Selling through WeChat, online and off

The Best of British Show 2018 presented a unique opportunity for brands of all shapes and sizes to springboard their way into China. Over four days, some 30,000 consumers and trade buyers poured through the doors of the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. The problem for many brands, however, was how to navigate import rules and sell directly from the stand.

The answer; cross-border ecommerce. We built, launched and managed a multi-brand WeChat store hosting 32 brands selling a range of products, from Brompton bicycles to Tiptree jams, scarves, gin, bags, snooker tables, gloves and cosmetics. Visitors could buy straight from each brand’s exhibition stand through a unique QR code, as well as after the show through WeChat. We handled everything from beginning to end, including store build, payments, customer service and logistics, giving us a fascinating insight into the client side of ecommerce implementation.
